Abstract

Background. The main task of optical switches is to ensure the highest possible speed for the terabit optical communication lines being developed, the efficiency and the provision of the lowest possible unit cost, as well as the reduction of power consumption in comparison with existing optoelectronic analogues.
Matherials and methods. One of the promising ways to solve the problem is the use of piezoelectric microdrives, on the basis of which the creation of a multichannel multifunctional piezoelectric switch for optical channels is proposed. The use of piezoelectric multichannel switches for optical channels is closely related to the calculation of the performance of micropiezoelectric motors and the optimization of the parameters of micro-piezoelectric motors.
Results. The sizes of the piezoelement and the moving part coordinated in this way fully provide the operating mode for micropiezoelectric motors with the best quality indicators forthe purpose of using optical channels in switches.
Conclusions. A generalized scheme of a multichannel commutator with the use of micro-piezoelectric drives for switching optical channels is presented. A technique for frequency matching of the sizes of elements of a micro-piezoelectric engine for optical commutators is proposed.
